I have many ferral cats who come to me to be fed. They have learned that if they come to the kitchen window to let me know they are there I will go to the bedroom window (the only one that I can put food out through) and I will feed them. I can’t help but think that they have trained me and not the other way around.
Ha, great little behavior tidbit there! My good friend says that “communication is always a continual feedback loop between both learners in the situation” The animals are always “training” us 🙂 What do you think?
Hi Ryan. Thank you for your free training videos. I have 4 parrots (IRN, Alex, Ekkie & Quaker) and have been training then for the last 1.5 years. I have worked out a number of techniques, and am very pleased to see that your techniques back up what I have been doing. The 2 behaviours that I will be focusing on with my Alex is to allow me to touch his wings and back which he has never allowed me to do. Your video showing just that training is exactly what I needed, thanks. Also, getting each of them into my travel/vet box is usually a fight/bite battle. I am going to use your carry box methods to train them to go in without me having to catch them.
Your videos and explanations are fantastic – short, concise and very effective. Thanks 🙂
I loved watching Molly’s progress. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences. This was a fun and very interesting mini course. I can’t wait to delve into the members information. ☺
Thank you for a lovely and very interesting mini course! I found all the videos very instructive, and loved the last cat training video! Am VERY impressed with the continued target behaviour!! That would be a neat thing to teach Elvis! 🙂
Thank you, Ryan. This is very informative and simply explained. Gives a good overview and examples of these techniques and principles. Just what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your expertise! 🙂
Enjoyed seeing different species and traning tips from Debbie Marrin at the San Francisco Zoo. A maravelous opportunity to learn from your and her years of experience.
Hi Ryan. Just wanted to say thanks for the free course. I’ve been studying (in part) in this area over the past year and being able to see the videos really brings the theory to life.
Thanks Ryan for a nice course. I just train dogs so it was so cool to see other species being trained. I’m almost ready to try training my cat! I’ll let you know how that goes. I’m definitely planning to “join the tribe” .
